For Houston Grand Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess, the goal was to honor the opera’s cultural legacy while capturing attention across traditional and digital platforms. Her design approach blended bold typography, evocative imagery, and a dynamic dark brown and beige palette chosen for its strong contrast and contemporary elegance. The campaign extended across print, outdoor, and digital media, including billboards, social content, and performance programs, all unified through a cohesive visual system that made the production instantly recognizable.
Her use of archival imagery combined with modern collage techniques and portrait-driven storytelling created emotional resonance for both longtime opera-goers and new audiences. The billboard design exemplified her precision: oversized typography, clean hierarchy, and cutout portraits subtly breaking the frame added depth and immediacy uncommon in opera advertising. The soft beige backdrop balanced the intensity of the portraits, providing both visual strength and refined negative space.
She also demonstrated exceptional adaptability across platforms. She translated her magazine layout into effective social ads, introduced subtle animation for digital engagement, and reengineered the artwork for formats ranging from outdoor signage to web banners, emails, and postcards. Across all touchpoints, she maintained a unified identity while meeting each medium’s unique technical demands. The result was a visually compelling campaign that increased ticket sales, drove strong audience engagement, and achieved wide recognition within the Houston community.
